Lying flat arguments

1. Lying flat is morally incorrect because we should be diligent.

BUT times have changed. The older generation was diligent because they grew up from the grassroots, and had to work hard to build everything they and we have now. Now that society’s well established, while we appreciate everything they have done, it’s about time we move forward from our biological to our self-actualization needs. We need people to develop technology and other new innovative inventions. We need schools and parents to teach us how to pursue our passions instead of merely and blindly being diligent like a robot.

2. Lying flat is putting more pressure on one’s family and economy without bearing one’s responsibility.

BUT lying flat does not mean doing nothing at all. It means living as a minimalist, earning only enough by oneself to support one’s own living. One would not lie flat if one cannot survive that way, and lying flat does not mean using one’s parents’ money to get through the day. Also, lying flat is a symbol of not getting exploited by the crushing society. As I mentioned, modern society needs innovative people instead of robotically diligent people to boost the economy. When we put this in mind, urging youngsters to work hard without encouraging them to pursue their own dreams outside of the academic curriculum do no good to both youngsters’ personal growth and the future economy. No wonder why and how our youngsters have grown so frustrated and hopeless about pursuing their dreams in this city that they turn to this viral phenomenon to walk and eat purely for survival and as a silent protest.

Now, to those who blindly criticize lying flat, if you still believe that lying flat will shatter the economy, then note this down: Indoctrinating youngsters to be blindly diligent and discouraging them to pursue their passions will exterminate the little creativity left in them, hence, also, crush the modern economy where innovation is needed. So, either way, we are on our way to the dead end.

If so, why can we not put an end to this fight, and simply appreciate—and finally acknowledge—what these youngsters have to say about our still redeemable society?
